Laboratory transport, built around the specimen.

Atlantic BioLink Network is a New Brunswick company developing a dedicated transportation service for time-sensitive laboratory materials. We start from what the specimen requires — time, condition and custody — and design the transport to meet it.

The problem

A specimen isn’t ordinary cargo.

Time

Every specimen has a window in which it is still useful. The route has to fit inside it.

Condition

Temperature and handling are set by the laboratory, and they have to hold for the whole journey.

Custody

Someone is responsible for the specimen at every moment, and the record has to say who.

What ABLN is building

A dedicated transport model for laboratory material.

Four capabilities, designed together rather than added to a courier service.

Scheduled transport

In design

Regular runs between collection sites and laboratories, planned around receiving hours.

Urgent, on-demand transport

In design

A defined response for specimens that cannot wait for the next scheduled run.

Chain of custody

In design

A record of every handoff: who held the specimen, when, and in what state.

Exception response

In design

What happens when a run is late, a condition drifts or a road closes — decided before it happens.

The idea

The requirement travels with the specimen.

From collection to receipt, the specimen never travels alone. Its requirement moves with it. The holder changes; the requirement does not.

Why ABLN

Laboratories define what the material requires. ABLN designs the transport that meets it.

Most transport is designed first and asked to carry specimens afterwards. ABLN works in the other order: the laboratory’s requirement comes first, and the schedule, the vehicle, the packaging and the record are designed to satisfy it.

The company

Founded in New Brunswick.

Atlantic BioLink Network was founded in Moncton by Matheo Girouard and Xavier Bourgeois to build a transportation service designed for laboratory material. It is pre-operational: developing its service model, operating procedures and technology ahead of service.
